Into the Surrealistic Mind

Definition

Surrealism is a movement that seeks to challenge conventional reality and explore the unconscious mind. Surrealist artists aim to depict illogical or dreamlike scenes and ideas, and to find beauty in the unexpected and unconventional. Surrealist artists often used automatic drawing or writing to access their unconscious minds. They also explored a range of visual forms, from hyper-realistic paintings to uncanny combinations of materials and objects. Some well-known Surrealist artists include Salvador Dalí, René Magritte, Max Ernst, and Yves Tanguy.
